Challenges
The greatest challenge was to maintain the flight operations of an existing major airport at all times. With the renovation of the existing terminal buildings 1 and 2, the construction of the new 2-storey Terminal 3, thus adding an additional 12,000 sqm of commercial space and 11 new contact gates/stands under a one-roof concept. The terminal expansion of approximately 61,000 sqm in total includes a new multi-storey parking facility with 800 car parks under a modern and efficient arrivals curb. The complete dimensioning of the new buildings was another big challenge and mastered by Michael Becker.
